Motorola Could be Planning to Release a New Smartwatch
Samsung, Sony and Apple are vying for a domination in a relatively market new market, wearable smart gadgets. It appears that Motorola doesn’t want to stay behind. The company recently published a job opening ads for project leader team of its wearable design team and this fuels rumors that the Illinois-based company has something up its sleeve.
In 2012, Motorola rolled out the MotoActv, a smartwatch that didn’t do very well due to high price tag and limited compatibility only to specific Motorola smartphones. The MotoActv comes with a built-in music player and was based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. Motorola’s next smartwatch may need to support any smartphone platform, including Android, iOS and Windows Phone, to better ensure success in the market.
