Dual-core Smartwatch with Jelly Bean OS, the Omate, Appears on Kickstarter

Omate SmartwatchPerhaps inspired by the success of Pebble, a new smartwatch model has just appeared in Kickstarter. The Omate watch uses Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) OS and it supports 2G/3G networks. In a glance, the device could be a second display for our smartphone and in a way; it can work like a smartphone.

Overall, despite being in the prototype stage the device still looks quite promising.  It improves upon the design of current smartwatch models. Other than the heavily customized Android build, it also offers WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and FM radio. The Android interface offers easier user interaction on its small 1.54-inch display. The device even has microSIM and microSD slots for direct access to mobile data. Inside, the Omate has 1.3GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A7 processor, 4GB of onboard storage 512MB of RAM.
